European Patent Attorneys are members of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (epi). The codes of conduct of the epi are caqn be found on the website of epi (under "Rules and Regulations -> Code of Conduct") or in the epi-Informations 2/2001on page 75.

European Trademark and Design Attorneys or professional representatives before the Office for Harmonization for the Internal Market in in Alicante, Spain, are liable to Art. 89 of the Council Regulation (EC) No 40/94 of 20 December 1993 on the Community trade mark and the rules 76 to 78 of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 2868/95 of 13 December 1995 implementing Council Regulation (EC) No 40/94 on the Community trade mark. These Regulations Verordnungen are available at the Harmonisierungsamt für den Binnenmarkt.
